I often wonder, is there anything more exhausting than sitting by a patient's bedside at the hospital?!?!?! Okay, okay, sure, I guess it has been a LITTLE BIT harder on hubby, after all, he is the one who had major surgery for the second time in five months, but at least he's getting the good drugs! Ha ha!!!
Johnny's surgeons, Dr. Shiraz Patel & Dr. Brian Kern, are FANTASTIC and the nurses here at Lourdes Hospital have been WONDERFUL. My only complaint is that the Starbuck's in the lobby closes at 1:00 pm and isn't open on Sundays!
Johnny's getting antsy and is anxious to be discharged so soon it will be time for "Nurse Joyce" to take over. When we get home I'm going to make my adorable "Nurse Owl" cards to send to the nurses. I first made the "Nurse Owl" card for my Mom when she was sick last summer. Everybody just loved it so now it's my go-to Get Well card. I think it's also the perfect card to send to the nurses to say, "Thank you for taking such good care of Johnny!"
Thanks so much for visiting me today! I hope you've been inspired to make a "Nurse Owl Thank You" card for someone that went out of their way to take good care of you or your loved one!
Praying that you and your loved ones stay healthy, but if you do have to go to the hospital, I pray that your doctors and nurses as great as the ones at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Today, March 15th is the Ides of March. The Ides of March is the first day of the Roman New Year. It also marks the first day of spring in the Roman calendar!

And what a glorious spring day it was! We visited historic downtown Paducah and had lunch in the garden at jP's Bar & Grill at Market House Square. The singing of the birds, the splashing of the water fountain, and the lovely breeze provided us with a beautiful soundtrack for our meal. The sunshine felt like heaven and I was LOVING it so much that I didn't even care if the food was good or not!!! (Luckily the food was as wonderful as the setting.)
I really enjoy visiting Paducah. There are so many wonderful places to explore. Beautiful historic neighborhoods; art galleries; museums, including the world reknowned National Quilt Museum; fabulous one-of-a-kind stores, one of our favorites is "Creatures of Habit"; antique stores, bakeries, coffee houses, fabulous restaurants, great theater and so much more!!!
I hope that your Ides of March was beautiful, filled with bird song, sunshine and.....
Everyone wishes that they were lucky enough to be just a wee bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day! Fortunately, the Irish generously share their holiday with all of us! I remember when we were little and everyone would show up to school wearing something green so we wouldn't get pinched. Do kids still do that?
If you like to decorate for every holiday then you are in luck! Now you can download Stampin' Up!'s exclusive "Lucky You" ensemble to print out decorations. Bring some luck o' the Irish to your classroom or home this year!

I love being able to "dress-up" the cover of my iPhone for the holidays, or to match my outfit and my mood! Today my iPhone is wearing three different Designer Series Paper patterns in the "Birds of a Feather" DSP collection from Stampin' Up! I think it is the cutest iPhone ever!!! Love how all the designs in the collection coordinate so perfectly.
Here's an equally cute "baby chicks" dish for Easter Sunday.
Aren't they adorable?!?!?!?! Almost too cute to eat!
Sending wishes that your Easter season is filled with....

This is being shot by my favorite indie-film director, Nick Nylen, second-year M.F.A. student and teaching assistant at SIUC. The Diaries is Nick's 5th major production. One of his previous movies, Cornfed Tiger, was an official selection of the Illinois International Film Festival in 2011.
This fundraising intiative is an attempt to defray the production costs. Although they are near their goal, that by no means covers all of their expenses...so go ahead...push them past their goal. Help these college students who are working hard to achieve their dreams.
Who knows, with your help, maybe one day we'll be watching them accepting an Oscar as we proudly say, "Hey, I helped fund one of his early movies!" Wouldn't it be fun to know you played a part in his success?

For those of you under the age of 50, and for those of you who have never watched "Doctor Who", the above image is of a British telephone booth. Designed in My Digital Studio, Images (c) Stampin' Up!
YIKES!!! I just found out that cell phone numbers became public on March 1st. This means that all those annoying solicitors, the ones we've so happily avoided since we dropped our land-line phones, will again be calling us during dinner. Wonderful, just wonderful. To make matters worse, the minutes they use are deducted from your plan's available minutes.
To prevent this happening to you, call the National Do Not Call Registry at 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register. It only takes a minute of your time and blocks your number permanently. If you have both a land-line phone and a cell phone you will have to make two separate calls to add both numbers to the registry. Or you can go to www.donotcall.gov and click on "Register a Phone Number" in the left column to add your number(s) to the Registry.
WARNING: Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls.
